If your library has a page or pages that require a password for access, such as a protected library portal or your Learning Management System, we can set up Referring URL authentication to the Credo's platform from those pages. Referring URL authentication is when we associate your page's URL with your Credo account, so that links to Credo content on that page do not require secondary authentication (such as a proxy log-in).
The advantage of referring URL authentication is that it makes access seamless for students who have already logged in to your protected page or Learning Management System; it can also be useful for institutions that do not have a proxy server or have trouble using proxied links within their LMS.
- The page(s) must be password-protected.
- Access to these pages must be restricted to users at your institution.
1. Locate the URL for which you want to set up referring URL authentication. It can be the URL to one particular page, or a URL that covers multiple pages, like the main link to your Learning Management System.
2. Send this URL to Credo support to request a referring URL set-up.
3. We will associate this URL with your account.
4. If you place any deep links to Credo content or embed codes on the authorized page, those links/embed codes should authenticate seamlessly, without prompting the user for log-in. If you have a proxy, don't use the proxy with these links.
